As we edge towards the close of 2025, nothing is more pertinent to me than the sliding-scale of connectedness. Embodying some of the greatest atrocities of our times, to the daily reminders of joy, hope and Being from our collective Mother Earth, somehow we have continued to hold on to ourselves as well as to one another.

there is a thread that collectively binds us.

The Loofah comes to mind: a fibrous, vine-grown member of the pumpkin, squash and gourd family, Cucurbitaceae. The inner matrix is interwoven, intermeshed, inter-designed in such a way that notions of separateness are impossible to even imagine. I am currently exploring them, and trying to figure out if the entire fibrous complexity might be one continuous thread? This naturally opens up the more obvious questions around complexity and Complexity Theory, and other intellectual exercises. But it also begs more important inquiries into how Mother can teach us what it means to live together within complexity? Are we, like Mycelium, spread across this lived experience, whilst bound together by an invisible thread?

a matrix

Last week I reached out to someone I know, to try and help just a bit during their current physical crisis ... a small act that was sincerely received. In my response, I responded that 'we are all connected'' and in writing these words, I realised that I truly believe in this level of interconnectedness: not as a theoretical statement, not as an intellectual concept, not as a notion within the arts, but as a knowing deep inside of my being.

a resonance

we do not journey alone.

we are and remain connected to one another, although we may have forgotten this.

we belong to Community, even through some of us may never have experienced it.

we will find our way home, together.
